Green Computing

green-computingGreen computing is the environmentally responsible use of computers and related resources. Lowering your carbon footprint is very important for schools, business and the public sector. PC Peripherals are dedicated to help our clients become more efficient in the ways they use energy by implementing energy efficient computer systems, helping to reduce resource consumption and providing proper disposal of electronic equipment.

Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has partnered up with many government departments related to education, public sector and commercial sector within Ireland to improve energy use practices and to reduce operating costs along with helping to protect the environment for future generations.

There is a statutory requirement for public sector organisations to reduce energy consumption by 33% by 2020. Public bodies, including schools, will also be obliged to monitor and report energy use to SEAI from 2011.

We received the Silver Mark for all our monitor models.

Green Celtic PCs- PC Peripherals employ a policy of sourcing components for the manufacture of our Celtic PC's that are environmentally friendly, durable, replaceable and compatible with other products and brands.

Power Management - The ACPI power management feature on our Celtic range of PCs place computers (CPU, hard drive, LCD's etc.) into a low-power "sleep mode" after a designated period of inactivity. Simply hitting a key on the keyboard or moving the mouse awakens the computer instantly. The proposed system also enables the most energy-efficient computing platform, regardless of underlying hardware, attached devices or software workload.
